Billy Nobel

Born in Toronto, grew up in Baltimore. Graduated from the Janna Friedman Music School, then from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2004 majoring in Piano Performance. Over the years steadily progressed through the classical genre and across a broad range of music styles, including pop, blues and jazz. In Upper School, he added vocal music and musical theater to his repertoire. Professional musician, pianist, composer, and orchestra leader in L.A.

Verena Anders

Born in Berlin, Verena Anders initiated her musical studies at the Peabody Preparatory after her family had moved to Baltimore. While showing an extraordinary affinity for the performing arts, she began to undertake specialized training in piano, voice and dance. Graduated from the Janna Friedman Music School and won a scholarship through the Rosa Ponselle Voice Competition to attend an Opera Training Program in San Francisco at age of 17. Ms. Anders continued her musical studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her mentors there included internationally acclaimed pianists Santiago Rodriguez and her mother, Lucia Starr, as her primary voice teacher. In September 2004, Verena Anders was appointed Music Director and Choir Director of the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church near Washington, D.C.

Benjamin Starr

Ben Starr, brother of Verena Anders, graduated from the Janna Friedman Music School majoring in Piano Performance. He continues his music studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA (http://www.curtis.edu/html/10000.shtml) and was given a 38K talent scholarship.

Adam Beytin

After Janna Friedman Music School, Adam graduated with Honors from the University of Maryland, College Park. Major: Computer Engineering, Minors: Piano Performance and Japanese.

Eric Weaver

After his graduation in 2010 from the Park School and Janna Friedman Music School, Eric was admitted to the Oberlin College. He’ll be majoring in neuroscience. Winner of the American Fine Arts Competition in Washington, DC; 2010 JFMS Award Recipient for the Outstanding Achievements in Piano Performance.

Esther Chervinsky

After graduation from Janna Friedman Music School and Franklin High School in 2010, Esther continues her studies at Stevenson U-ty. Her major is Business Information Systems. Winner of MSMTA 2004 Spring Festival and the American Fine Arts Competition, performed at the Carnegie Hall in NY. 2010 JFMS Award Recipient for the outstanding achievements in Piano Performance.

Lawrence Laynburd

Lawrence graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2010 (piano). Also was a 1st saxophone and lead player at Sudbrook Magnet Middle School and Owings Mills High School orchestra and Jazz bands. Continues his studies at the University of Maryland College Park. His major is Aeronautical Engineering.
