| Janna Friedman | Piano. School Founder. M.M., Kiev Conservatory of Music. Renowned teacher in Ukraine and USA, performed with the Rakhlin’s and Turchak’s orchestras. Winner of the Ukrainian piano competition, 2nd prize. Numerous performances in USSR and USA. Faculty member of the Peabody Preparatory School for 17 years. Founded BMS in 1996 where she teaches piano and gives Master classes. Ms. Friedman’s students performed at the Carnegie Hall, won multiple piano competitions, and became professional musicians. 2010 JFMS Award Recipient for the Outstanding Achievements in Piano Teaching. |
Olga Chala |
Piano. M.M., Lvov Conservatory of Music. Winner of the Ukrainian Chamber Ensemble Competition (Donetsk, 1980). Faculty member of the Lvov Conservatory of Music for 20 years (piano and piano methodology). Numerous solo and ensemble appearances in Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, and USA. Accompanist for “Dibrova” Choir and clarinet players. Ms.Chala has taught more than 60 students at JFMS. Her students won American Fine Arts and Music-Fest Rising Talents competitions and performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York and Mildred & Ernest E. Mayo Concert Hall in NJ. 2010 JFMS Award Recipient for the Outstanding Achievements in Piano Teaching. |
Ella Levenfus |
Piano. M.M. Ms. Levenfus’s professional experience include teaching at the Park School of Baltimore, Sudbrook Arts Center, JCC, and Baltimore Talent Education Center. Students from Ms. Levenfus’s studio performed at the Carnegie Hall and won many piano competitions. |
Valentina Shadrina |
Piano. M.M. Tashkent Conservatory of Music. Uzbekistan Youth Prize recipient. Mrs. Shadrina has over 30 years of teaching experience. Faculty member of the Teacher Training College. Her students won “Young Talents” and “Golden Notes” music competitions. Many of Mrs. Shadrina’s students became professional musicians. Worked as soloist, conductor, and accompanist at the Central Radio and Television Station preparing performances for the Government and holiday concerts. Recorded more then 200 musical compositions of various classical and modern composers. Set up and directed the Church Choir. Numerous solo and chamber performances in France, Germany, Turkey, Sloveniya. |
| Yelena Feldman | Piano. B.S., Kiev Civil Engineering Institute, Kiev Music School. Recorded more than 40 songs and instrumental compositions. In collaboration with Alexandra Suhoy, released two Record Albums: "Some Day" and "Cup of Tea" (2003, 2011). Provides private piano lessons to children and adults. Worked at Gan Yeladim Preschool, Baltimore Hebrew University, and Towson University. |
| Alec M. Davis | Piano, Voice, Composition, Music Theory. B.M., Catholic University of America in Piano Performance. Winner of competitions in both piano and voice, Alec has performed at such venues as Ward Hall, Harris Theater, and the Kennedy Center. As a singer, he is most active as an oratorio singer and Church musician, presently singing at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. His compositions have been performed throughout the DC area, including sets for solo piano, violin, and chorus. Alec has assisted with musical direction at Upper Room Theater (VA), Summer Dinner Theater (MD), and Centre Stage Theater (DC), and continues to work with singers and instrumentalists as a performance coach and piano accompanist. | Martiros Shakhzadyan | Violin.B.M., Peabody Conservatory.Has appeared in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the USA and Russia. Martiros is a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition and the OCMEA Solo Competition. Performed as a guest concertmaster with the Maryland Choral Society and Moscow Ballet Company. An experienced teacher, Martiros took part in the Math & Arts summer camp and conference in Ithaca College, where he taught violin and general music to elementary and middle school children along with math and art teachers in an attempt to incorporate those different disciplines in education. Martiros welcomes students of all ages and levels of playing. |
| Valentina Morozov | Violin, Piano, Music Theory, Russian Language. M.M. Music Conservatory and University of Tumen’, B.A.University of Astrachan’. Violin and Piano teacher and performer since 1976 in Russia, Israel, Canada, and United States. Instructor of Russian language & literature as well as psychology and ethics since 1989. Has more than 30 years of combined experience teaching in Russia and USA. Possesses up-to-date Russian language modifications from Russian experts and colleagues. |
| Melissa Wertheimer | Flute, Piccolo. M.M., Piccolo, Peabody Conservatory; B.M. Flute, Ithaca College. 2nd place, 2009 Piccolo Artist Competition of the Flute Society of Washington, DC. First student in the history of Ithaca College to win the IC Concerto Competition on piccolo in 2007. Summer 2009 pit member of the College Light Opera Company in Cape Cod, MA. Performances in Avery Fisher Hall, the U.S. State Department, and throughout Ireland. With the Dahlia Flute Duo in Baltimore, she has received grants from Yamaha, the College Music Society, and the Baltimore Creative Artist Fund. |
| Roman Gordon | Guitar, Accordion, Composition, Piano. M.A. Artistic Director of the Children Choir and chamber ensemble in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. Faculty member of the Dnepropetrovsk Music College. Chair of the Composer’s Union and Director of the Ukrainian Musical Union. Author of more than 200 songs, instrumental compositions, and arrangements of folk songs. Laureate of numerous All-Union and State Youth Song Competitions. |
| Annie Gill | Voice, Musical Theater. G.P.D., Peabody Conservatory of Music, M.M., Boston University, B.M. Indiana University. Further studies in Vienna, Austria - Fine Arts and Performing Arts category. Recipient of multiples grants and assistantships including the School of Music Dean’s Award at Indiana University, the Achievement Scholarships, National Vocal Scholarship, Outstanding Colleague Award, Best Performance, George Castelle Memorial Award, Women’s Opportunity Grant, and William P. Kincaid Scholarship. Currently teaching voice and piano at “S and S Music” in Crofton, MD and is a soprano soloist at The Church of the Advent, Federal Hill, MD. | Stephen Parezo | Drums/Percussion. Over 25 years of professional drumming experience. Studied at University of Maryland, College Park, B.S., Journalism, Rosso Music and Rinaldi Academy of Music. Specializes in drum techniques of rock, country, funk and R&B genres. Teaches drum set maintenance, tuning, set up and cleaning. Performed with Country Hall of Fame Songwriter Jim Owen and Rockabilly Recording Artist Johnny Strickland. Performed with a number of top flight Classic Rock, Country, Oldies and Top 40 bands In Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Tampa, FL. Recorded critically acclaimed CD "Rough Cut" with The Buddy Ivory Band. Currently performs with the 50s-60s band the Retro-Rockets. Owner of the Drum School in Ellicott City. |
