Billy Nobel

Born in Toronto, grew up in Baltimore. Graduated from the Janna Friedman Music School, then from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2004 majoring in Piano Performance. Over the years steadily progressed through the classical genre and across a broad range of music styles, including pop, blues and jazz. In Upper School, he added vocal music and musical theater to his repertoire. Verena Anders

Born in Berlin, Verena Anders initiated her musical studies at the Peabody Preparatory after her family had moved to Baltimore. While showing an extraordinary affinity for the performing arts, she began to undertake specialized training in piano, voice and dance. Graduated from the Janna Friedman Music School and won a scholarship through the Rosa Ponselle Voice Competition to attend an Opera Training Program in San Francisco at age of 17. Ms. Anders continued her musical studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her mentors there included internationally acclaimed pianists Santiago Rodriguez and her mother, Lucia Starr, as her primary voice teacher. Benjamin Starr

Ben Starr, brother of Verena Anders, graduated from the Janna Friedman Music School majoring in Piano Performance. He continues his music studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA (http://www.curtis.edu/html/10000.shtml) and was given a 38K talent scholarship.

Adam Beytin

After Janna Friedman Music School, Adam graduated with Honors from the University of Maryland, College Park. Major: Computer Engineering, Minors: Piano Performance and Japanese.

Eric Weaver

After his graduation in 2010 from the Park School and Janna Friedman Music School, Eric was admitted to the Oberlin College. He’ll be majoring in neuroscience. Winner of the American Fine Arts Competition in Washington, DC; 2010 JFMS Award Recipient for the Outstanding Achievements in Piano Performance.

Esther Chervinsky

After graduation from Janna Friedman Music School and Franklin High School in 2010, Esther continues her studies at Stevenson U-ty. Her major is Business Information Systems. Winner of MSMTA 2004 Spring Festival and the American Fine Arts Competition, performed at the Carnegie Hall in NY. 2010 JFMS Award Recipient for the outstanding achievements in Piano Performance.

Lawrence Laynburd

Lawrence graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2010 (piano). Also was a 1st saxophone and lead player at Sudbrook Magnet Middle School and Owings Mills High School orchestra and Jazz bands. Then graduated from the University of Maryland College Park. His major was Civil Engineering.

Vlad Yuditsky

Vlad graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2013 (piano). His three most achieving music experiences are: 2010 Music Fest Grand Prize winner, 2012 American Fine Arts Festival Grand Prize winner where he got to travel to Germany, Italy, and Austria to study, and finally played at Carnegie Hall in 2012. Vlad then graduated from Towson University in Economics as his major and piano performance as minor.

Roman Suhoy

Roman graduated with Honors from Janna Friedman Music School in 2016 (piano). His most achieving music experiences include: Music-Fest Grand Prize winner in Piano solo and Piano Trio (played at the Carnegie Hall in NY, 2010); Award of Excellence “Magic of the Moment” in Music Composition - Senior Division, Baltimore County Reflection Program (2013); Annual Jazz Festivals, Distinction Awards as part of Sudbrook Magnet Middle School Jazz Band - jazz piano (2011-2012, Shrewsbury, PA). Roman's multiple recordings can be found on YouTube as pianist in solo and ensemble categories. Roman graduated with B.S. from Stevenson University (Computer Information Systems major and Business Administration minor).

Sriniti Jayaram

Sriniti graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2016 (piano). She was a winner of American Fine Arts Festival in piano solo in her childhood, and continued her piano solo achievements until her graduation from JFMS in 2016. Sriniti is currently attending University of Maryland. Her piano recordings can be found on YouTube.

Maria Morozov

Maria graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2016 (piano, violin). She won a Gold Prize at the American Fine Arts Festival in 2015. Maria's multiple recordings can be found on YouTube as piano soloist and violin ensemble player.

David Guzman

David graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2017 (piano). He won a top Prize at the American Fine Arts Festival competition and performed at the Carnegie Hall in NY. David's multiple recordings can be found on YouTube. David continues his Art, Drama, and Music career in Bennington College in Vermont.

Valarous Lingham

Valarous graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2017 (piano), and will continue his Music education in Baltimore City Community College.

Liat Klopouh

Liat graduated with Honors from Janna Friedman Music School in 2018 (piano). Her most achieving music experiences include Grand Prix winner performances at the Carnegie Hall in NY at Music Fest Rising Talent Competition and AFAF Competition in 2010, 2014, 2015, and participation in Ramon Rivera Piano Competition (2016). Liat's multiple recordings can be found on YouTube in solo and ensemble categories. Liat is currently attending Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

Jyotsna Jayaram

Jyotsna graduated from Janna Friedman Music School in 2018 (piano) and is currently attending University of Maryland College Park majoring in Biological Sciences with concentration on Physiology and Neurobiology. Jyotsna has published a book in May 2018, available for sale on Amazon. The book ‘Kisumu Dawn’ is a memoir to showcase her dad’s experiences in Uganda as a 10-year-old. 

Manuela Suhoy

Manuela graduated with Honors from Janna Friedman Music School in 2020 (piano performance & violin performance) and is currently attending University of Maryland College Park majoring in Biological Sciences. Manuela’s multiple recordings can be found on YouTube as pianist and violinist in solo and ensemble categories. She appeared 3 times at the Carnegie Hall in NY as a Grand Prix winner at Music Fest Rising Talent Competition and AFAF International Competitions.

Jacob Rose

Jacob graduated with Honors from Janna Friedman Music School in 2020 (piano performance). He won a top Prize at the Music Fest Rising Talent Competition and performed at the Carnegie Hall in NY. Jacob’s multiple recordings can be found on YouTube. Jacob continues his studies at the Eastman School of Music and Rochester University in New York.
